I love cooking, but most of all love sharing recipes with friends and fellow travellers. As we travel around Australia in our caravan, no matter who we meet, we always end up talking about food, so I had an idea… to create a platform for doing just that – sharing recipes!

The follow pages contain tips and tricks that have made our life so much easier whilst cooking in the caravan, tips that can easily be translated into any home. I hope you you can take away something that can help you too.

Happy creating,

“Say, hey, good lookin’,
what you got cookin’?
How’s about cookin’ something up with me?”

– Song by Hank Williams

Eat your vegetables

I was lucky enough to be raised on the principle of eating “meat and 3 veg”. The apple didn’t fall too far from the tree, so our meals include vegetables (or salad), with an emphasis on the vegetables to meat ratio being 3:1

The war against sugar

I don’t like to add sugar to meals. I figure if you use a clever combination of herbs and spices with fresh food, adding sugar isn’t necessary. When cooking treats for the family, I substitute sugar or honey with rice malt syrup.

It’s hard enough dealing with toddler mood swings – as we try to navigate through helping the kids learn to regulate their emotions – no need to pour more fuel on that fire.

One year into their trip around Australia, the Lloyds live and breathe their brand “Lentil Bit Wiser”, a play on the popular saying “A Little Bit Wiser’”, which Tania…

Road Trip Brisket – Slow Cooker

There’s nothing better than a hearty meal by the campfire, under the stars, after an eight hour drive across the Nullabor. Simply pop it on before you leave in the morning, placing the slow cooker in the kitchen sink so it’s nice and snug and won’t move during the drive. Road Trip Brisket – Slow…

Guest Recipe – Apricot Balls

Jump to recipe When I think of fellow travellers “Somewhere in a Van,” I immediately chuckle. We’ve shared countless belly laughs — not to mention the dramatic 3am boat rescue destined for the big screen, a Hollywood blockbuster, set on the one and only, Ningaloo Reef! The people you meet make the trip, and we’ve…
